City with 19,500 houses, powered entirely by the solar energyFlorida, U.S. state known for high temperatures prevailing in most of the year is chosen by Kitson & Partners to build the first city in the world powered entirely by solar energy. Future city called Babcock Ranch, will have an area of about 7 hectares, enough room for 19,500 houses, all supplied by a central solar capable to produce 75 megawatts, whose total value is 300 million dollars. City residents will have to move only with electric vehicles. In this respect is set up a special network for power battery chargers. To streamline the network, developers will use the latest solar technologies, including Smart Gide, which allows authorities to monitor and manage energy and Smart Home, in which people will work from home appliances with a maximum yield. City Construction will begin towards the end of the year. Besides space for housing, the settlement will have a considerable area for retail, industry, parks and recreational spaces. Other hectares will be allocated the necessary placement of solar panels feed the city. The biggest challenge they have in front of the project initiators are not related to the technique, but to bring people into town, even if the developers promise 20,000 permanent jobs. <<<< back to articles section |
